Gov. Cuomo releases list of State of the State proposals, featuring gun control, environmental plans

Posted: Updated:

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has released his proposals for his State of the State agenda.

Among the 14 proposals for 2020 includes preventing anyone who commits a serious crime in another state from owning a gun in New York.

Gun rights advocates say that idea could be a double-edged sword -- while some say criminals should not have guns, they question how the law applies to law-abiding citizens.

That is just one of a few gun control laws the governor has passed in recent years.

Other laws include banning single-use Styrofoam containers and putting a halt on the "pink tax," which affects women shopping for self-care products. It puts a stop to products offered to men and women at different prices.
