NRF: Black Friday weekend sales break records

Posted: Updated:

Nearly 190 million shoppers broke Black Friday records, according to a new report.

The National Retail Federation says 189.6 million U.S. consumers hit the stores or shopped online between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday.

That's 14% more than last year, with millennials being the biggest spenders.
Officials say that breaks down to about $360 spent by each shopper.

They say 52% of consumers it surveyed started their gift purchasing during the 2019 Black Friday weekend compared with 44% in 2018.
