Crews plow and salt roadways as wintry mix hits Rockland County

Those heading out on the roads Monday evening were advised to leave themselves some extra time to deal with the wintry mix.

Plows and scrapers were all out in Rockland County Monday afternoon. Workers cleared parking lots and shoppers cleaned off cars while flurries came down.

The precipitation in Rockland turned from rain to a wintry mix to snow as the day went on.

Highway department crews got an early start Monday morning trying to stay ahead of the storm and officials said they were ready for a long night.

Rockland County Executive Ed Day urged everyone to be careful, to stay home if possible and to take it easy on the roads.
