Katonah’s ‘small-town traditions’ continue on Small Business Saturday

Posted: Updated:

Shoppers were encouraged to shop locally for Small Business Saturday to help support community shops during the holiday season rush.

News 12 was along Main Street in Katonah, which has seen better times. Jessica Harris, the owner of And James – a boutique clothing store – says small businesses are part of the fabric that makes up the hamlet in Bedford.

"You don't have Amazon supporting your baseball teams or flag football teams. It’s small businesses like me," she says.

Santa Claus also made the trip down Katonah Avenue and heard from children about what they want for Christmas.

People in the area say the annual tradition helps to bring the community together while encouraging residents to shop local.

"Katonah is a small town and we want to support those small-town traditions," says Harris.
