‘Good Times’ actor John Amos partners with New Rochelle teacher for book about acts of kindnessPosted: Updated:
“Good Times” actor John Amos partnered with a New Rochelle teacher to share a powerful message with students.
The students weren't even born when Amos made his name in the ‘70s TV show "Good Times" and the iconic drama "Roots," but his message spans all generations. Amos wrote a book about acts of kindness.
"It's imperative that children learn something besides what they see on the news and the bad stuff. So ‘A World Without Color’ is a book that will hopefully inspire children to look around the world and see acts of kindness and improve the conditions of everything," he says.
New Rochelle teacher Lisa Figaro says it’s an important lesson that she tries to bring to her classroom. She translated Amos' book to reach more children, including her students at Ward Elementary School.
“I think many students lack empathy, and by reading and putting themselves in the position of the characters in the book, they see what empathy can do,” she says.
