State police arrest Newburgh man twice in same day

Posted: Updated:

State police say they arrested a Newburgh man twice in the same day.

Authorities say Jamill Smith refused to leave a home in Wallkill, threw the homeowner and pinned the victim down.

He was arrested, but officials say that Smith returned after his release -- despite a newly issued stay-away order of protection.

Troopers say Smith was peering into the home through a bedroom window when he returned.

He was arrested again.

During that arraignment, Smith allegedly asked to make a phone call and called the victim's cellphone in front of the judge.

He's now facing a slew of charges, including harassment.
