Newburgh to lay off dozens of police and firefighters

More than two dozen layoffs are set to impact first responders in one Orange County city.

As a result of the 2020 budget, 14 firefighters and 19 police officers in Newburgh are expected to be cut.

The city is expected to make the announcement at tonight's council meeting at 7 p.m.

The Newburgh firefighters' union is pushing back, saying it plans to protest the decision.
