Celebrity chefs, pitmasters from around the country, and foodies galore descended upon Gowanus Saturday for the #RuizingForACause event.
The event was hosted by Pig Beach, to honor celebrity Chef Carl Ruiz, who passed away suddenly in September. More than 20 award-winning chefs were on site, cooking up some of Ruiz's favorite dishes.

All proceeds from the event were raised for two causes close to Ruiz's heart: Alzheimer's research and culinary education.
George Ruiz, Carl's brother, spoke at the event. He said, "The things that my brother loved were great friends, great food, and great times. We’ve got all three here."
At the event, it was announced #RuizingForACause will return again next year.
Mike Puma, founder of the Gotham Burger Social Club, said, "For us, food is the center of family and friends, and just bringing people together."
