Sources: Elderly couple hit with gun in violent Mount Hope home invasion

Posted: Updated:

Sources tell News 12 a family on Hill Road in Mount Hope were victims of a violent home invasion.

State police say the robbery started around 7 p.m. Thursday. An elderly couple were both hit on the head with a gun and then tied up with another family member, according to sources.

The robbers made off with an unknown amount of cash, according to state police. The suspects are believed to have gotten away on foot.

Neighbors who didn't want to go on camera say the people who may have been involved in this home invasion took off through the home’s shared backyard on their way out of the neighborhood.

"I was immediately contacted by the police chief to let me know what was going on," says Mount Hope Town Supervisor Chad Volpe, who lives nearby. "We believe that it’s an isolated incident. We believe that nobody has any worries whatsoever moving forward."
