The Rev. Al Sharpton and faith leaders hosted incoming NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea for a closed round table on Monday.
The meeting was held to discuss community relations. Shea opened up about his history, his background and his plans for the city.
Sharpton shared topics of concern and says they also spoke on issues like no cash bail and what happens to some community leaders when their children are pulled over and profiled.
Faith leaders say they are hopeful that Monday's conversation starts a new chapter.
They say getting children in the community to trust those who have been placed in authority is another concern.
