Poughkeepsie police increase patrols following Vassar College home invasion

Posted: Updated:

Poughkeepsie police are increasing patrols following an armed robbery on Halloween night at Vassar College.

The school says around 2 a.m. Friday, two men entered a townhouse through an unlocked door. One of the men is said to have had a handgun.

They say the men bound the students and searched the home.

As soon as the men left, the students ran outside and flagged campus security.

Vassar says police searched the area, and believe the suspects fled the scene.

In the wake of the incident, Town of Poughkeepsie police are conducting a full investigation and are increasing patrols in the area.

Vassar is advising students and staff to lock all doors, offices, rooms and windows when home and away.

Anyone with information is asked to call Poughkeepsie police or Vassar Safety and Security.
