2 Mount Vernon officers reprimanded for unauthorized overtime pay

Two Mount Vernon police officers are being reprimanded for unauthorized overtime pay.

City Police Commissioner Shawn Harris launched an investigation into the police department in August after discovering millions of dollars of overtime was accumulated.

Mayor Andre Wallace tells News 12 that Lt. Michael Marcucilli has been suspended as a result of the probe.

He says officer Jessie Smiley has also been placed in modified duty. "We're looking to make sure that we get rid of fraud, waste and abuse. So the commissioner has been working on that, and he has been doing his due diligence and going through finding out why taxpayers' dollars are being spent recklessly," says Wallace.
