Port Jervis High School hosts Health and Wellness Day

Posted: Updated:

Hundreds of students in Orange County were taught lessons today on subjects not typically taught in school.

Port Jervis High School hosted a Health and Wellness Day for students with outreach community organizations from throughout the county.  "High school…it's so easy for kids to feel alone with what they're going through. So by you sharing your story and all these organizations here, it's just a day of people telling kids that they're not alone that there is help, you got this," says Leah Jones, a Port Jervis High School student.

News 12's Blaise Gomez helped kick off the event by talking to students about healthy relationships and resiliency.

Representatives from groups like Safe Homes and the Mental Health Association of Orange County were on hand to interact with and talk to kids about health and wellness.
