Wicked weather uproots 100-year-old tree in Sleepy Hollow

A tree removal crew was working hard on the ground and perched precariously high above in a bucket truck to clean up the mess Mother Nature left behind at a 92-year-old Tudor house on Hemlock Drive in Sleepy Hollow.

Wednesday night's wicked weather uprooted a more than 100-year-old red oak tree on Nick Kaluk's property.

The massive tree split in two, and barely missed the house, while he and his family were in the living room.

"Those whole part of the tree ended up scraping the front of the house. That sounded like...an earthquake and a wind storm...at the same time,” he says.
