Posted: Updated:

Police say a Wallkill officer was able to save a man from an overdose Thursday night.

They say officers responded to a call for a possibly intoxicated man in the parking lot of a CVS on Route 211-E.

Police say when they arrived, a 49-year-old man was trying to hide heroin packets in his car.

He was arrested and placed in a patrol car when he became unconscious. The officer was able to issue Narcan and the victim regained consciousness.

The man was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. He is due back in court on drug charges.
