New Windsor man charged with shooting Newburgh man in stomach and leg

 A New Windsor man has been charged in the shooting of a Newburgh man.

Newburgh police Ryan Discua was arrested while in possession of a Hi-Point 9mm semiautomatic handgun Thursday night just after 8 p.m.

Investigators say the 23-year-old shot Romeo Herring on Wednesday night near William and Renwick streets.

Herring was taken to a St. Luke’s Hospital with gunshot wounds to his leg and abdomen.

Police say Discua is also facing charges from his involvement in a shooting that occurred shortly after 2. p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, in the area of First Street and Carpenter Avenue.
