Gov. Cuomo: NYC subway trains could soon be going faster

Posted: Updated:

Your subway commute through New York City could be getting a little faster.

Transit officials and Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced a plan yesterday to speed up the city subways, some by as much as 50%.

A study says they're not going as fast as they can because of restrictions put in place years ago.

Officials say the new speeds will have to be tested in various conditions before those limits can be suggested.

Final recommendations are expected to be sent to the MTA by the end of the year.
