Byram Hills School District employee accused of making terroristic threat

Posted: Updated:

A bus driver at the Byram Hills School District was arrested Friday for allegedly making a terroristic threat.

A letter from the district says they took “immediate action” after hearing that Matthew Martorana, 51, of Port Chester, threatened a co-worker.

The nature of the threat has not yet been made clear.

Some parents told News 12 that they were shocked by the allegations – saying that Martorana was never anything but nice to their children.

Multiple neighbors told News 12 that they saw guns being taken out of his home. Police have not yet confirmed that information.

A friend of Martorana says the bus driver “shoots as a hobby and there's nothing wrong with that."

Martorana's next court date is set for Oct. 22.
