Teens arrested after Newburgh man shot in the hip

Two Newburgh teens have been arrested after a man showed up to the hospital with a gunshot wound.

Giovanni Alvarez, 18, and Terrance Melvin, 18, each face a weapons charge in connection to Wednesday night's shooting near Benkard Avenue and William Street.

The pair was arrested about a block away after investigators say the 23-year-old victim went to St. Luke's Hospital with a hip wound. The victim has not been cooperating with police.

Police tell News 12 four guns were found inside an apartment near the area.

Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call detectives at (845) 561-3131.
