Water main break floods parts of Irvington train station parking lot

Posted: Updated:

A water main break in Irvington flooded portions of the train station’s parking lot.

Officials say the break on South Astor Street started gushing water around 5 a.m.

The sewer and water department worked on draining a flooded ditch where they believe the break is.

in order to repair it, the superintendent tells us water pressure at the Irvington Public Library and Red Barn Bakery will be lowered in order to work on the source.
The library decided to closed until 2 p.m. because of repairs

In the meantime, traffic is diverted away from South Astor Street.

It's unclear why the main broke, but the superintendent says it could be the age of the valve.

He also says they're still actively working on fixing this issue, but it's too soon to tell how long this will take.
