5K event in Pleasantville raises funds, awareness to fight hunger

Posted: Updated:

Residents headed to Pleasantville for the third annual Miles for Meals 5K Walk and Run Sunday.

The event is hosted by Feeding Westchester, the county's largest nonprofit hunger relief organization.

Organizers say this event raises awareness that 1 in 5 people in Westchester County are in need of food.

The 5K raises thousands of dollars each year for hungry families in the area.

Pumpkin painting, face painting and mini golfing were also activities on site.

Those who couldn't make it out to the event can still donate online as a virtual walker.

Organizers say $1 is equal to four meals for families in the region.
