Police: Man killed, teen hurt in Newburgh shooting

Police say a man was killed and a teen was injured in a shooting Saturday night in the city of Newburgh.

Officers say they received a Shot Spotter notification about gunshots fired in the area of Liberty Street and Clinton Street.

They arrived on the scene to find 35-year-old Aned Alberto Alvarado Baquedano with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was taken to St. Lukes Hospital, where he was pounced dead.

Police say 18-year-old Almighty Ward also suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to St. Lukes Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
