Grant to help transform 2-mile stretch of I-684 in Katonah

Posted: Updated:

Some much-needed work is getting done to I-684 in Katonah, thanks to a nearly $13 million state grant

Over the course of 50 years, the 2-mile stretch that runs through Katonah hasn't been touched once. But thanks to the funding from the New York state Department of Transportation, the highway is going from a rocky road to a smooth and silent street.

"This goes beyond simply a temporary fix. All of the on-ramps and off-ramps approaches will be paved. All the lanes of traffic will be paved,” says Bedford Town Supervisor Chris Burdick.

"This has been a quality-of-life issue, it has been a safety issue, it's an economic issue,” says Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins. "So at some point we have to recognize that once we have the resources we have to make the projects move."

The project is expected to be complete by the fall.
