'Graffiti Squad’ cleans up Bronx River Parkway

Posted: Updated:

Students from Iona Prep got their hands dirty along the Bronx River Parkway for a good cause.

Twenty juniors from Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle rolled up their sleeves to remove graffiti from a stone underpass of the parkway, near Scout Park.

The project is in partnership with Westchester Parks Foundation and Thalle Industries' “Graffiti Squad.”

This effort encourages students to work together to better the community through service.

Students say cleaning up the parks helps them enjoy their surroundings while helping the environment. “I come here with friends sometimes. I see graffiti. It's not a good sight to see,” says student Charles Vega.
