3 lawsuits claim Jewish day school teacher sexually abused studentsPosted: Updated:
A Westchester school is facing multiple sexual abuse lawsuits from former students.
There are three separate lawsuits that were filed against the Westchester Day School, a private, modern Orthodox Jewish day school in Mamaroneck.
The lawsuits were filed by former students who attended the school in the late 1960s and early 1970s. They all allege they were sexually abused by teacher Stanley Rosenfeld. They claim he not only exposed himself, but would touch them while sleeping in bed with them when he held sleepovers at his house.
The lawsuits claim the school and the school's board of trustees failed to properly supervise Rosenfeld. The lawsuit references an investigation that school attorneys conducted this year, in which former students gave firsthand reports of alleged sexual abuse by Rosenfeld.
According to the lawsuit, the school investigation revealed a gym teacher and the headmaster were notified about the alleged abuse, yet Rosenfeld remained employed.
News 12 reached out to the school for comment, but has not yet heard back.
