Hollywood is coming to Downtown Yonkers in the form of a $100 million movie production studio.
Motion picture company Lionsgate is set to become a tenant in the complex, which will include five major stages and an operational backlot.
It will be built in what is now iPark Hudson's parking lot, a campus already home to Kawasaki Rail Car and various city and state agencies.
Construction is set to begin in November, and the complex is expected to be up-and-running by the fall of 2020.
Lionsgate is partnering with Great Point Capital Management and developer National Resources on the complex.
Lionsgate's CEO says in a statement, "It's rare to find a studio facility in such a prime New York metropolitan area location, and we look forward to being at the center of film and television production growth in the region."
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano says the city has worked hard over the past eight years to attract productions by eliminating some fees and streamlining the permit process.
