Officers buy back-to-school supplies for fifth-grader

Posted: Updated:

Some police officers in New Rochelle reached into their own pockets to help one Hudson Valley student go back to school in style.

A fifth-grader's father recently lost his job, so officers McCullough and Velasco stepped in to help buy school supplies.

The officers got a copy of her list, went shopping, and then surprised her with some brand new supplies. The officers say the little girl was especially ecstatic to receive her new purple earbuds.
