Hurricane Dorian adds wrinkle to busy Labor Day air travelPosted: Updated:
Labor Day travel is already a crazy day at airports as travelers head home from their last summer hurrah, but on this holiday there was a greater sense of urgency as people from the southeast tried to escape from Dorian's path.
There have been more than 600 flights canceled as Hurricane Dorian makes its way to the East Coast, and some people leaving Westchester County Airport found it to be a challenge.
The arrival times at the airport were constantly changing and were likely continue to move throughout the day, with most flights either delayed and in some cases canceled.
“I get anxiety because I'm not used to taking planes so having to take two was annoying,” said traveler Kaitlyn Reyes.
Despite the headache, Reyes returned to the Hudson Valley relieved after visiting family in North Carolina.
Many airlines were waiving changing and cancellation fees to and from Florida and South Carolina.
Those who are flying are advised to check with airlines to see if there are any cancellations or delays.
