Back to School: Katonah author says "Work it, Girl!"

Posted: Updated:

As kids get ready to head back to school, News 12 is hitting the books and talking to local authors about their message to young people.

For one local author, her message is "go for it!"

Katonah author Caroline Moss is behind the series "Work it, Girl!"

She writes biographies of celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and J.K. Rowling.

The books are geared toward young adults and dive into each famous person's journey. "The message is you don't have to wait to be an adult to decide what you want to do.  If you want to be someone, you don't have to wait!"

Moss says school is the perfect place to discover those passions and that her teachers encouraged her to keep writing. "If you decide at 9 years old you want to be a writer and you change your mind 10 years later, that's OK too. It's never too early to start feeding those passions."

Her next two biographies will be on former first lady Michelle Obama and former NASA astronaut Mae Jemison, and will be published in 2020.
