Storms knock out power in Rye neighborhood

Posted: Updated:

Some people woke up without power in Rye this morning after last night's wild weather.

Police had to be called in after a tree came crashing down near the Rye train station.

The tree took down power lines, which knocked out power to Con Ed customers throughout the area. "We lost power, for about two, three hours last night, so luckily it came back," says resident Steve Fox.

Traffic on Peck Avenue was also blocked in both directions while crews worked to clear the area.

On Playland Parkway some drivers became stuck due to flooding caused by the heavy rains.

Police were called to help out there while a tow truck pulled the cars out.

Con Edison says a couple dozen customers who were affected are now back on line.
