Arena League football teams fined over larceny incident during game

WHITE PLAINS -

The New York Streets and Carolina Cobras were fined by the National Arena League for their response to a larceny that occurred during a charity game.

The Streets were disciplined for not providing adequate security and the Cobras for not finishing the game. The Cobras' coach was also suspended.

Police say an employee for the New York Streets broke into the opposing team's locker room during an arena league football game at the Westchester County Center.

Officials say Aniyah Booker, 18, now faces two misdemeanor larceny charges.

She's accused of stealing about $3,000 and a ring from the Cobras' locker room on Sunday.

The Cobras players refused to play the second half after discovering the theft.

The Connecticut teen is a production contractor with the New York Streets.

She also allegedly stole about $1,000 from a member of the New York Streets dance team earlier this month.

The Streets responded to the arrest, saying in part, "Aniyah's actions have caused serious damage to our team, our fans and the National Arena League. We expect she will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
