A “Lights for Liberty” rally and vigil is set in Nanuet to protest inhuman treatment of undocumented immigrants in detention centers.
Similar rallies are taking place this weekend across the country in response to what activists say is the handling of detainees along the U.S.-Mexico border at Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities.
The rallies come as ICE plans to arrest potentially thousands of undocumented immigrants on Sunday who have been ordered to be deported.
Rallies have also been planned in Westchester and Orange County where detained immigrants are being held.
