NEWBURGH -

A tractor-trailer hauling beer caught fire on the New York State Thruway in Orange County this morning.

Police say the fire broke out around 6 a.m. in the Plattekill Rest Area, between Newburgh and New Paltz.

They say it appears the truck's engine caught fire and engulfed the cab of the big rig. There is no word on if the contents were damaged.

The driver was not injured.

About 100 gallons of diesel fuel had to be cleaned up by first responders.
