Fifty kids took off Friday for the grand opening of Camp Junior in Harriman State Park.
The camp is named in memory of Lesandro “Junior” Guzman-Feliz, the Bronx boy murdered by members of the Trinitarios gang outside a bodega.
The camp’s goal was to give Bronx kids an opportunity to step out of their comfort zones. Over 300 kids are enrolled in the four two-week sessions.
Next year, Camp Junior is expected to be open to 1,000 more Bronx kids.
