A Westchester community came together to help build the spirits of children who come from neglect, by building a safe place for them to play.
Volunteers in Irvington teamed up with about 250 people from Morgan Stanley to construct a state-of-the-art playground for children at the Abbott House on North Broadway.
The children at Abbott House typically suffer from chronic stressful conditions such as poverty, abuse and separation from their families.
Volunteers say the playground will enhance their overall well-being.
"This is going to be an opportunity for them to just be kids for them to forget about their circumstance and just be a child," says Karen Mercera, a Morgan Stanley volunteer.
