Mail truck goes up in flames in Rockland County

Posted: Updated:
ORANGEBURG -

Mail carriers pride themselves on not letting "snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night" stop them from their appointed rounds. Well, you can add fire to that list for one Rockland County mail carrier.

Orangeburg firefighters had to put out a blaze after a mail truck became engulfed in flames on Monday.

Crews were called to the Orangeburg Post Office just after 5:30 p.m. and found flames and black smoke billowing from the box truck.

The fire was quickly put out, and the mail loaded on the truck was not damaged. It is unknown yet what caused the fire.

There are no reports of any injuries.
