Authorities rescue 9 animals from deplorable conditions at Kent homePosted: Updated:
Nine animals were rescued from a home in Kent that officials say wasn't even clean enough for humans.
Putnam County SPCA Chief Ken Ross says the appalling discovery was made Tuesday as police did a welfare check at the home.
"I've been doing this for 15 years and I've seen a lot of bad things," said Ross. "The boxer was up there near the top - that was a walking skeleton."
The animal's owner, a 45-year-old woman, is not being identified because Child Protective Services is involved. She is now facing nine charges of animal cruelty, a class A misdemeanor carrying a maximum charge of a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
