Beachgoers still upset over Silver Sands fire as holiday weekend approaches

Beachgoers in Milford are hoping to have some fun this holiday weekend even though they are still upset over a fire that destroyed a $9 million pavilion at Silver Sands State Park back in March.
The massive fire on March 19 destroyed two buildings and 50% of the third building that was under construction. The buildings were going to house bathrooms and concession stands that were supposed to open in time for the Memorial Day weekend.
"People were excited that there was going to be bathroom facilities, real bathroom facilities, which there had not been and it was a shame that the fire happened," says Mayor Ben Blake.
Blake says there are environmental studies being done to look at how the pavilion can be rebuilt over the next six to eight months.
The mayor says the fire is still under investigation.
All of Milford's beaches will open for the season this weekend.
