Tractor-trailer smashes into Bronx River Parkway overpassPosted: Updated:
A tractor-trailer smashed into an overpass in Yonkers this morning.
Police say the truck carrying Honda motorcycle parts was traveling southbound on the Bronx River Parkway when it crashed near the Cross County Parkway around 6:15 a.m.
The roof of the trailer was completely sheared off.
Two lanes closed as crews had to remove debris and tow the truck from the parkway.
Truck travel on all parkways is illegal in Westchester.
No one was injured. The driver was issued summons for traveling on a restricted roadway (no commercial vehicles allowed on the BRP), failure to obey a traffic control device (the signs that say No Trucks or Passenger Cars Only), and having an over-height vehicle (too tall for the roadway due to the bridges).
