Man involved in police shooting avoids jail time

WHITE PLAINS -

One of the two men involved in the shooting of a Yonkers police officer will not have to serve any jail time

Jerry Reyes was sentenced to three years probation in Westchester County Court.

The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor weapons charge in connection to the shooting of Kayla Maher in September 2017.

Reyes’ co-defendant, Frank Valencia, 19, is serving 24 years to life in prison for the officer's attempted murder.
