Westport man accused of armed robbery at Fairfield Subway
A Westport man was arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a Subway restaurant in Fairfield, police say.
Walter Reed, 48, of Westport, was arrested Tuesday and charged with robbery and larceny.
The incident happened on May 2 inside the Subway restaurant on 709 Post Road in Fairfield.
Police say Reed asked the cashier for change for a $1 and when the register was opened, he pulled out a gun and took $390.
Investigators say Reed also stole $20 from the tip jar inside another Subway restaurant store at 1996 Post Road earlier the same day.
Police say they were able to ID Reed and his vehicle through surveillance footage from both the restaurants.
Police say they arrested Reed at his Westport home without incident.
He was held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 28.
