Jersey Proud: Group of 5th-graders help clean up local park

A group of Passaic County children is making New Jersey proud with their effort to help clean a local park.
The group of fifth-graders from Prospect Park helped to pick up trash in Hofstra Park Thursday morning.
It was all the idea of student Ashley Caraccio. She plays in the park and says that she noticed that it needed some attention. She asked her parents and her school superintendent if her class could help out.
“I’ve recently been up here and there’s a lot of trash and since this is a popular space for summer camp, I want the camp and counselors to be able to participate without any trash lying around,” she says.
Ashley says that she hopes that the cleanup can become an annual event with the fifth-grade class.
