Police search for 2 suspects in high-speed chase that led to crash

HARRIMAN -

Police say they are searching for two suspects who led them on a high-speed chase overnight.

The chase resulted in a crash and an injury to a state trooper.

State police say the driver of the car took off during a traffic stop near the Woodbury tolls on I-87 in Orange County.

The driver led a state trooper and an unmarked NYPD car on a chase down Route 17 west and back onto the Thruway southbound just before midnight.

Authorities say the driver then made an illegal U-turn to head north, and instead, lost control, hit a guardrail and caused a chain-reaction behind him.  This resulted in the unmarked NYPD car to rear-end the state police cruiser.

Authorities have not said why or how the NYPD was involved.

The driver and a passenger then ran off into the woods, while two other passengers were taken into custody and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Police say the trooper involved suffered a minor head injury, was taken to Westchester Medical Center and released.
