Elementary students are raising money to help families in need in Rockland County.

More than 100 third-graders at Stony Point Elementary kicked off 'North Rockland Sports Day for Charity’ today.

The annual event raises money for several charities including 'Stand up to Cancer' and 'Friends of Karen.'

This year, students hope to raise $15,000 to help people in need.  "For these kids to be so young and helping all of these charities, it’s amazing to be able to do it with them as older kids and watch them. It's such an inspiration," says Olivia Csernecky, of North Rockland High School.

North Rockland Sports Day for Charity is April 13 at the high school.
