Kidney donor couple celebrates life, health on Valentine's Day

A Lindenhurst couple celebrated more than just love this Valentine's Day -- they celebrated life and health.
Last month, Jacqueline Streffacio donated one of her kidneys to her husband Vincent, who was diagnosed with renal failure two years ago and spent 10 months on dialysis.
"I love my wife very much and there's nothing I can do to repay her," Vincent says.
"It's part of what you say when you say, 'I do,'" says Jacqueline. "In sickness and in health. And boy, did we test that vow."
The two met as children and began dating in their 20s.
When it comes to the kidney donation, doctors say they don't look for a perfect match, but what they hope for is compatibility. Jacqueline is blood type O, which is considered the universal donor.
The Streffacios underwent their surgeries on Jan. 7. They now say they'd like to put all that in the past and focus on their future together as a family.
The couple says their future certainly includes a vacation, ideally somewhere warm.
