Tuesday's mixture of snow, sleet and rain made for treacherous road conditions during the morning and evening commutes.
News 12 took a ride with Suffolk Highway Patrol Sgt. Tom Seifert Tuesday afternoon and quickly came across the crash on the eastbound Long Island Expressway, near the welcome center. Slush had built up between the roadway's lanes, causing drivers to hydroplane during lane changes.
Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone urged drivers to use caution on the slushy and slick roads.

Suffolk police reported roughly 233 crashes between 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. Nassau police say they responded to about 95 accidents, including one on Route 135.
Plows and salt and sand trucks made several passes on the LIE. Town of Huntington officials said they have their roads covered as well.
Many school districts canceled classes for the day. Some of those that didn't cancel had early dismissals and canceled after-school activities.
