Hawthorne mainstay closes its doors after 40 yearsPosted: Updated:
A restaurant in Hawthorne has closed its doors after 40 years of business.
Gordo's Restaurant on Commerce Street officially served its last meal over the weekend.
The restaurant's owners say they're simply ready for a change.
Many people say they've been eating there for decades. "It's been a town place. People who are townies, this has been your go-to place that you come to all the time. It's just a great place, very upsetting to many of us in the town,” says Gail Wind, of Thornwood.
The owners say they may reconsider trying to reopen Gordo's elsewhere after receiving such an outpouring of support.
