Police: Man shot outside Ossining housing complexPosted: Updated:
A man was rushed to the hospital after being shot in Ossining on Sunday.
Ossining Police Chief Kevin Sylvester says officers found one male with gunshot wounds on Van Cortland Street, just outside the Cortland Ridge housing complex, shortly after 4:30 a.m.
The victim's identity has not been released. There is no word on his condition.
The shooting comes less than two weeks after 21-year-old Greg Jackson was stabbed to death in Ossining.
Police arrested a suspect in the stabbing last week and say these two acts of violence are not connected. "This doesn't appear related to anything else that's going on here lately. This is something that no resident should tolerate, it's not something that we should expect in our community," says Sylvester.
Police are still on the hunt for the shooter, and are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
