Health experts: ‘Don't go outside today unless you have to’Posted: Updated:
Arctic air is causing dangerous conditions for anyone who has to be outside today.
News 12 meteorologists say the wind chill is going to make it feel like its -25 today. The cold has also forced hundreds of schools, businesses and government offices across the Hudson Valley to shut down for the day.
Health experts say that if you have to be outside today, you need to cover yourself from head-to-toe as frostbite can hit exposed skin in less than 20 minutes under these kind of conditions.
The cold is also affecting commuters as black ice is prevalent on all roadways today. A speed restriction of 35 mph is in effect on the Gov. Mario Cuomo Bridge today.
