Molloy students participate in Day of Service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.
Some Molloy College students came together in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to spread a message of the importance of community service.
The students got together for the Day of Service to help a local soup kitchens, hospitals and patients.
Officials at Molloy College say they brought the student volunteers together to honor Dr. King and his message of the value of service to others.

“There seems to be a great hunger as to what we were doing today, people wanted to serve, were excited about it and asking us about it, about opportunities. So we have some work to do to make sure we connect the community to these opportunities on a regular basis,” says Lisa Newland, who is with the social work department at Molloy College.
Some students made cards and crafts for a project called Bring the Smiles, which consists of a kit that will be given to kids who are in the emergency room at Winthrop Hospital.
Other volunteers crocheted blankets for patients going through chemotherapy.

“Here at Molloy we make it our mission by supporting the message that Dr. King had by saying we have a dream that we all can do service today no matter what,” says Jeff Lozano, of Molloy student government.
